Tinker, Tailor, Soldier Spy - I LOVED it. Atmospheric, intricate, slow paced and measured but totally engrossing. If you haven't read the novel you will need to concentrate but will be totally rewarded by the complexity and the marvelous performances from the entire cast.
The Departed - excellent thriller
Sexy Beast - great cast and quirky crime movie - Ben Kingsley is menacing.
Missing - thriller set in Chile during Pinochet's coup - older movie (1982) - I saw it as a teenager and it really had an impact on me. Jack Lemmon and Sissy Spacek are outstanding.
And Soon The Darkness - NOT THE REMAKE! I'm talking about the
original 1970 movie which is unbelievably creepy.
The Day Of The Jackal - the ultimate cold blooded and meticulous assassin......
The American - slow paced but quite compelling - a study of loneliness as much as anything
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo - unsettling and sadistic in parts but complex and great performances
LA Confidential - engrossing and a marvelous adaption of Ellroy's dark and gritty novel.
Defence Of The Realm - 80's political thriller set in the UK and concerning an incident at an American air base
The Constant Gardener - another excellent Le Carre adaptation - concerning murder and corrupt Big Pharma in Africa
Arlington Road - is Jeff Bridges' new neighbor a domestic terrorist? Or not? Joan Cusack has a chilling moment in this one......
The Usual Suspects
The Manchurian Candidate
JFK - you may not agree with Oliver Stone's theories but it's a fast paced and intriguing movie
The Ides Of March - a great portrayal of just how Machiavellian and cut throat politics can be - great cast and a good one to watch right now with the election approaching.
Those are just a few of my favorites
