"Premonition", with Sandra Bullock **POSSIBLE SPOILERS in this thread**
Hey, anyone want to discuss the movie "Premonition"?
I'm trying to figure out how the movie flows and a bit curious about something, and was wondering if anyone else had noticed it. In the beginning, Linda is notified by the police that her husband had been killed in a car crash. Now the way the movie is structured, that was supposedly just a part of her premonition. But what I don't understand is this: At the end of the movie when her husband is actually killed, it only stands to reason that she was responsible for the sequence of events that led to the accident. I mean, she witnesses the whole thing taking place. So why didn't she know that at the beginning of the movie? Why the need for the cops to inform her of the accident? Did I miss something in the movie? Was she somehow able to affect the manner in which his death happened? I'm having a hard time trying to put this one together. It's such an odd movie.

I saw the movie twice already and it does seem like there was something missing there. Maybe check out the movie trailer online or on the video, there might be an answer...?

I even watched all the extra features on the DVD, and it didn't really explain much. I've talked to my mom and dad about it, since they both saw it, and asked if maybe they thought it was a writing goof-up, or perhaps the premonition is still somehow ongoing - with the end of the movie not really being the end. Maybe there will be a Premonition 2 - ?? After all, the alternate ending showed her getting up out of bed and then hearing the shower running in the master bath! You see her approaching the shower and pulling back the curtain, and then it fades to black. So it kinda leads you to believe the "cycle" is still going on.
I'll have to do some digging to see if anyone else noticed anything strange about the movie. It just leaves you a bit confused in places, as if something is not coming together.

Yes, it was an odd movie! Here's my take on it... the original "plan" was just that he was hit, but she tried to change fate. The old belief is that you can't change fate, so maybe it just shifted the circumstances of his death? So in the first version he was alone, but even with her presence added, it was still his time to die. Weird.

Well, I see what you're getting at. But then wouldn't the sheriff have simply told her that her husband had been in an accident, period? As it is, he told her Jim had died. This is one of those movies where I'd love to grab the writer and ask them to clarify something.
