I agree, I hate musicals, with the exceptions being Grease and Rocky Horror.

I try to take movies not by genre but by a movie by movie basis but there are some genres I can't stand.
  • Rom com's, chick flicks or whatever
  • Kid movies: they've stopped being special and unique and have become ridiculously formulaic. But hey it's not for us anyway so that's understandable
  • I watch political movies and westerns for the sole purpose of sleeping.
  • High fantasy movies like Lord of the Rings are simply too much too follow. I like Sci-Fi but not fantasy.
  • Oh and I hate musicals as well.

Gays and Jews.

I'm fully gay rights. And Im not anti semitic.

But I don't see why every Jewish character in a movie or novel story line feels compelled to share his culture or his customs or his family traditions with me. The Jews I know in real life don't.

I also have personal friends and acquaintances who are gay, and that fact never becomes apparent in real life, so why does it always need to in a movie?

I'm really tired of turning on cable movies and discovering that somewhere along the line, the plot turns to either a gay relationship issue or somebody's holocaust issue. I guess maybe Gays and Jews are always in your fact in New York City, but I don't live there, and my life goes on withour reminders of your New York City trauma and angst.

And by the way, the absolute worst genre of movie is the New York City cafe talkfest blabbathons of beautiful people who are never at a loss for a clever rejoinder with their artsy friends.
