Exactly!

Let's set a western story in Vermont, let's give Roman soldiers rocket launchers. It's not Monty bloody python lol.
You're mixing apples and oranges. Unless rocket launchers can act?

You think Danny Devito can play a convincing George Washington? Haha, .

You think Brad Pitt is a good choice to play Bill Gates in his biopic (hypothetically)?

Folks like you may not care, but I and many others do.

Haha Wayne has kind of slanty eyes so it's semi-convincing, but I bet his overall performance and voice (did he put on a generic Hollywood Chinaman accent?) was horrible.

I remember Burt Lancaster playing an Indian in, what was the movie, about some battle between the Indians and settlers. I couldn't fully believe it because of Burt's blue eyes. If I can't fully get immersed in the movie I won't find it as enjoyable.

Some people don't mind, but it bugs the heck of me lol.

One white man playing an Asian character that was creepily convincing was Christopher Lee as 'Fun Manchu' back in the 60s. Maybe it's because his last name could also be Asian, haha.

Couldn't find any youtube clips unfortunately.

Baseball great Joe Jackson was a left-handed batter and threw with his right hand. But in "Field of Dreams", Ray Liotta, playing Jackson, reversing them both, batted right handed and threw left handed. Liotta, in fact, is an extremely rare combination. Ricky Henderson is just about the only major league player of note who batted right handed and threw left handed, although abut 15% of all players, like Jackson, throw right handed and bat left handed. Another 10% or so have learned to bat equally well from either side, but no MLB player has ever thrown with both hands in the major leagues. There are a few fully ambidextrous players who probably could have, but none did.

Liotta, by they way, has a strong resemblance to current MLB player Rick Ankiel, both facial and body language..

Those can be annoying for those who notice it, but it's not as obvious as a 4'10" Italian-American playing George Washington haha.

There are certain physical characteristics that are considered but it's not like everyone having a movie made about them has a look alike actor waiting in the wings. I agree, it's an odd complaint.

A bigger issue for me is when actors take on characters from books and they don't fit what's in my minds eye!

You have a lot to learn about acting.
