I did watch this movie, and also read the book by her mother. Nancy had violent tendencies all her life, she was obviously sociopathic. And I think the punk era gave her release to be an *******.

Haha, so she's just a crappy actress who can't alter her accent.

And that's a bad thing for someone who looked like Nancy? LOL. I did think that part was funny though.

Wow, old thread! The real Nancy was more attractive than the actress Chloe Webb. But yeah, that was probably the best scene! Back to the OP, the movie was very disturbing to me, I don't remember nightmares, but it was hard to watch. Nancy's death scene...gruesome.

Was it an accurate portrayal? Of course no one can really know what happened at the end.

From what I know it was pretty accurate. i met Nancy a few times and she was very annoying. Many people in the punk rock world at that time say that Sid did not kill Nancy. I don't know exactly.
I do not think that a third party was involved. Either it was a suicide pact or Sid did it out of sheer frustration.
If you met her you would know that she had a huge set of emotional problems.Looking back I would say that she was psychotic, delusional and borderline personality disorder.
I also think that Chloe Webb's portrayal was phenomenal. Very accurate.
I went out with one of the Ramones. No one I knew liked her.
It is sad that she met with such an end but her own parents pretty much through her away.

No that was when she was wearing Sid's mom's clothes. She looked nothing like Stevie Nicks.

Like other posters, I read her mom's book. I think they just gave up. Sad all around.

Actually, I can understand the OP having nightmares. According to the book written by Nancy's mother, she really WAS that way ~ probably highly bipolar, and she was a terribly difficult child to raise. And I did watch the movie back then.

I read the book too. I'm about Nancy's age. I don't want to be judgmental, but the Spungen family know that Nancy had sever emotional disorders.
Now, as a mom of teens myself, I can't see myself setting up my daughter in NYC knowing that she was as emotionally disturbed as Nancy was.
I understand that they had two younger kids, but what exactly did they think the outcome would be?
Nancy was often referred to as "Nauseating Nancy", was not at all popular on the NY Punk rock scene.
Chloe Webb's portrayal was dead on accurate as was Gary Oldham's portrayal of Sid.
The whole thing is sad all around.
