I did go see it today and I liked it alot. Since it had been a few years, I didn't remember some of that stuff actually happening the first time. Like, the old lady Rose, and how she actually flew in a helicopter at age 100 to talk to the Titanic-seeking guy on the diving ship. I didn't think the 3D was extraordinary though. After the first hour, I forgot I was wearing the glasses. I still think James Cameron, who has done some 34 dives to the Titanic, is a genius. Who else would spend all that cash on an old ship at the bottom of the sea? Am glad he did, though. And, no headaches or blurry vision for me.
Considering how cold the 2D version left me there is no way in hell I would pay to sit through another three hours in 3D a medium I heartily dislike and find a gimmick.
I always thought Titanic was a matter of style over substance, I loathed the special effects which I found no better than the much older versions and it was a gross waste of the acting talents of Kate Winslet and Leonardo di Caprio. I just wish directors would realise that being ravishing and sumptuous visually does not a good film make.
I will not see it. It was a good movie but not going to spend the $$ on a film i saw years ago cause it's in 3-D.
I move on.
Sweet, I caught it on Fear TV or Chiller or whatever that one that shows really cheesy horror movies/anthologies is called.
I will say one thing about this re-release and conversion to 3D. If anyone could pull it off and pull it off well, it has to be JC. The more I read and watch interviews the more I admire him and what he does. I didn't like Titanic and don't think being in 3D will add much but I am confident he did a good job converting it.
When I look out into the real world I see it in three dimensions, not two.
I puzzles me why so many Andy Rooney (R.I.P.) types complain that 3D movies that show the world as it really is are nothing but a gimmick.
Had they been born in the 15th century they probably would have complained about the invention of perspective drawing: “It's nothing but a gimmick!! The artists are using it so they can charge us more for their paintings!! Anyway, it gives me headaches and makes me dizzy and nauseous. I hope it goes away so we can get back to the good old days.”
I wonder what their reactions to the introduction of sound and color to movies would have been.

I agree with that. He is quite brilliant if I do say so.
Now if they would have added extended footage to certain infamous scenes, I maybe would have...
