Have you noticed that every movie nowadays has at lest one scene of somebody vomiting, a funeral scene in the church or graveyard, at least one product-placement Volvo, and a scene shot out in a rain-machine. You can tick them off on your fingers as you watch the film.
The vomiting thing has been an actor artifice for a loooong time and I personally hate it. It does seem to get abused more and more. Apparently there are no new ideas in Hollywood. Or maybe they just don't trust their actors or writing.
Thought balloon "Hm...how do we show that their is real emotional pain here? I know! We'll have them throw up!" Subsitute pretty much any situation....I haven't thrown up in 20 years. I don't know anyone who routinely throws up every time they get a little shock.
I like to enjoy myself when I watch TV or the movies, I hate watching people throw up.

I went to see Salmon Fishing in the Yemen today. No vomiting, funeral scene, or Volvo placement. However, there were some rainy scenes -- but large portions of the movie were set in London, so that would explain that.

It's not pleasant, And in days past the most they would show is someone leaning over a railing or such and making the sound. Now it's in your face almost Linda Blair style and naturally it reminds us of being sick ourselves.
