Hi Guys im a newbie from th U.K.
I love movies but im getting old (55) and a lot of films i like have never made i past the VHS stage which is a real shame. Some of my favourites are:
"Where`s Jack" starring Tommy Steel and Stanley Baker. Based on the adventures of Jack Sheppard, the thief and jail-breaker who became a folk hero in 1720s London....written by James Clavell.
"Up the Junction" Poor little rich girl decides to slum it in Battersea south of the Thames. Polly had money but was surrounded by shallowness and snobbery. Her friends up the junction had loyalty, camaraderie and fun, but struggled to survive, scamming their way from pay day to pub, who was the poorer? Manfred Mann's excellent score insinuates it's way into the fabric of the movie, haunting and evocative. Give this one a chance, you won't regret it.
"Here We Go Round The Mullberry Bush" Filmed entirely on location in the new town of Stevenage, Hertfordshire during the latter part of 1967. This comedy / drama film follows the sexual exploits of teenager Jamie McGregor and the permissive society of the 60's.
I do have dvd conversions of these from vhs but they are obviously of an inferior quality.
as a by "Anne of a Thousand Days" is available on dvd.
Im looking for:
Paul Newman in "The Secret War of Harry Frigg"
A good list of tape conversaions is available from a UK company called Vicpine Video at
Rare Films - Vicpine, The Rare Film Specialists.
