"Spanglish" where rich white people show how stupid and needy that they are, and how they are humbled by the presence of blessed poor immigrants. I don't see how anyone could take this kind of stuff seriously.

I'm probably the only one in the world who didn't like the Notebook. I know the overall message was about love, but I hate how Hollywood (and our society these days) makes doing hurtful things (like cheating on your fiance) ok just because you're "in love".

You reminded me of another one. The Bridges of Madison County. I may sound like an old fuddy duddy, but I found this movie pretty appalling in it's romanticizing of adultery. Clint Eastwood never should have made this.

Girl, Interrupted - Whiny spoiled rich girl swallows a bunch of pills..why? What was bad in her life?

Orange County - California rich kid can't decide what college to attend, wants to attend Harvard or something prestigious. Life will end if he doesn't get into college of his choice!

The Crucible - Anything with religious zealots gets to me.

That sums up my reaction to Sixteen Candles. I like the movie because of all the secondary characters, especially the grandparents and Anthony Michael Hall. But Molly Ringwald's characters always bugs me. She whines through the whole movie, then at the end gets everything she wants. Blech. It would have been a better movie had she learned that there's more to life than the cutest boy in school and being the constant center of attention.

Machete was meant to be a "spoof"-type movie, I don't think it was actually meant to advocate the views it did...the views expressed were laughable and outrageous.....as were the dialogues, the theme and the storyline...and that was the whole point of the movie. Looks like some did not get it... !! I enjoyed watching Machete and did not take it any more seriously than, say, any movies of the "Scary Movie" series...

Any romantic comedy offends me. I know it's just supposed to be a movie and light-hearted fun blah blah blah, but just as there are people out there who think movies like Deliverance are for real, I know there are people who think that life is going to be just like a romantic comedy and base their entire hopes and dreams on that. That's why I refuse to watch them. I'd rather watch sci-fi movies - I think they're probably more realistic.

That movie was pretty appalling in its sheer ability to bore people to death.

How do you take such great actors and turn them into a valium-coated soporific...?
