I like what Nicholson did with the Joker in the eighties or nineties, but at the same time those Batman movies were lacking something. What it is I don't know. However, I like Christian Bales character as Batman the best. Michael Keaten wasn't physical enough, and Val Kilmer was too much the look, less brawn less ruggid. I think the newest series is the best. Batman has evolved and Christian Bale plays the best Batman. In my opinion.

I think it depends on when you grew up with the movies. I'm in the minority, picking the Burton batmans.

-Great theme by Danny Elfman! THE Batman theme. One of the best superhero themes ever. Music gets a 10.

-Great costumes, set design, period pieces.

-Great ancillary pieces....i.e. the batmobile! That batmobile in 1989 or 90 was pretty much the biggest thing in the world. I don't that design has ever been topped. Maybe the best vehicle of any super hero movie of the last 20-25 years?

Even if you don't like Keaton or Nicholson, that movie had a lot of things going right.

Wouldn't exactly say you're in the minority. SEVERAL people love the Burton films.

Yeah the Nolan films IMO opinions were the best, but that doesn't mean the Burton ones were bad. If anything they were very good in my book. The Burton films felt more like a superhero/comic book movie. While Nolan's felt more like a crime drama. Actually the Nolan films felt almost nothing like comic books.

Favorite is the Nolan Era, with Tim Burton's as the close second.

I love Nicholson, but by then he was too old and too fat for the part. If they'd made a Batman movie around 1974, Nicholson would've been a perfect Joker.
That's a good point. I remember when the Batman movie came out in '89, and I was thinking about how Joker's character reminded me of Beetlejuice, played by Keaton a year earlier (and also directed by Burton). Now who do you think would have been a better Batman around that time? How about Arnold or Stallone? lol

So true! ....loved that groovy bat music during the fight scenes

To the Bat poles Robin

Why is the old 60's TV series still not on DVD?

No question.. history will show the first Batman movie to be the best and best Cast! The new guy Christian Bale is boring as hell. Jack Nicholson is beyond reproach as the best Joker. Ah... the new generation..
Sadly, I can't even manage sitting through the first few minutes of the Bale Batmans. But, as we all know it's a matter of personal taste as is music.

I could go with that. And Adam West is the most timeless
