New movies I like to see at the local Drive In. otherwise I wait until they come out on NetFlix.
I used to buy movies on DVD when I had a job away from home and it didn't make sense to have cable. I have seen Lord of the Rings so many times! LOL. Now the DVD's go unused.
How do you like to watch your movies, DVD, Blu-ray, or maybe you like to watch on VHS, TV, or Laserdisc. I personally love blu-rays because of better picture and sound. I don't know why but I also have a fascination with laserdiscs...go figure.
I don't really care about the format or state-of-the-art technology; HD, mammoth TV screens, etc. In fact, I wish they'd back off a bit on that. I don't need to see every pore on a person's face.
I like to go to a theater once in a while just because it feels... nostalgic. And, of course, some movies should be seen there. I watched The Revenant at home and wished I'd seen it in a theater.

You don't have to spend the kind of money I did for my home theater sound system. You can get very good quality all under $1,000. Especially if you know what to buy. You can find some used home theater speakers on sale on craigslist for a few hundred dollars but if purchased new, it would be in the thousands. I see amazing deals all the time on craigslist when it comes to home theater.
We don't go to the theater much any more, but if there is a movie that in my opinion warrants a big screen viewing, I'll do it. Otherwise, we Redbox or Netflix most movies.
