Are there any actors and/or actresses that you started out not liking but ended up changing your mind about? I used to really not like Scarlett Johansson at all, but lately, I'm finding that she is more and more appeaing to me.

Mark Wahlberg. I couldn't stand him when he first started doing movies. Over time he has grown as an actor and he's put out some solid performances.

Thanks for your input! I was starting to get a complex over my thread being totally ignored!

Johnny Depp. I didn't like him at first, I guess he is an acquired taste.

Kevin Bacon prior to Stir of Echoes an Timothy Hutton before Mystic River didn't get much appreciation from me, but I really enjoyed their performances in those films.

I kinda agree with the Mark Wahlberg statement and I do often find myself not liking an actor or actress because they are playing a character I really hate until I remember it isn't the actor / actress I hate it's the character which is when I realize they're doing a good job. An example may be the new Total Recall movie in which I found myself really not liking (Kate Beckinsale) the woman who plays his (Quaids) wife...I admit I never gave Brad Pitt much thought until 12 monkeys and some of the other roles he decided to play instead of sticking with the standard heart throb leading male roles, similar to what Leonardo Dicaprio is doing recently (Aviator / J. Edgar).

Brad Pitt, Bruce Willis, and Blake Lively - the three Bs!

I never thought Brad was so hot and hadn't seen any of his movies - then I started seeing movies with him in them and, though I still don't think he's particularly sexy, I've definitely enjoyed his movies/acting. Pretty much the same for Bruce - didn't expect to like him but did.

Blake Lively is the real surprise for me. She came out of nowhere for me - Gossip Girl pulp - would have expected a generic, no-talent, pretty face. The first movie I saw her in was The Town and I didn't recognize her and was shocked afterward that's who it was - she was terrific in that role.

Karl Urban is starting to get due recognition (but I've liked him since The Ridicules of Chronic...I mean The Chronicals of Riddick) and Jeremy Renner might be on his way up also

Yes, but not necessarily due to their acting. Oddly, I came to have more respect for Brad Pitt and, of all people, Arnold Schwartzenegger, based on interviews.
