Is anyone a fan of Hammer Films, the British company that churned out a lot of low-budget horror films from the late 1950s into the 1970s? Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee were the most famous members of their "stock company", but most of the actors and actresses in them were little known in the United States.
I love them. They seemed to be training grounds for a lot of English actors who went onto bigger things (eg; Oliver Reed). I wish they'd show more of them here.

Turner Classic Movies shows them, especially in October. They showed one this morning - The Reptile (1966).
Low-budget and cheesy but classic films that paved the way for bigger things to come. Corny horror and sci-fi films are sometimes great on a Friday night over chips and salsa. Or cocoa puffs.
I always enjoyed the old Cushing-Lee films. It was always entertaining to see them together in a movie, although they almost always were set against each other. Oliver Reed was good in that werewolf film he did as well.

Anyone remember Hammer House of Horrors? It was in the 70s and 80s and a TV series from England. That show scared the daylights out of me.
Remember Barbara Steele? She might have been a Hammer producer but she was in a lot of the movies. I love those old movies. They are a real kick and Peter Cushing was wonderful. I remember one movie that was titled "Island of Terror" or something like that. Folks were trapped on a spooky English island and big turtle-like critters would grab hold of them and suck all the bones out of them. Cushing was in that one. I'm not sure that was a Hammer film but if not, it should have been.
Peter Cushing went back a long way. He was even in 'Chumps At Oxford' with Laurel & Hardy. He was a real gentleman of the old school. I knew a girl when I was a young teenager in the late 60s who had a crush on Christopher Lee. I remember thinking "are you nuts"!!
