The Station Agent is such a remarkable character study - not to be missed.

Hachi; A Dog's Tale if you like dogs. Or even if you don't.

Awakenings if you want to see Robin Williams without the zany. DeNiro also stars.

This Boy's Life with a young DiCaprio, autobiographical by Tobias Wolff

What's Eating Gilbert Grape - Depp and DiCaprio shine.

Great thread. We have become returning fans of NetFlix and have watched some good movies. I did recently search for the original version of Red Dawn to watch with my 9 yr old grandson and was surprised it wasn't on there. Just the newer version, which I hated.

Thx for the good ideas. Oh yes, we did watch the Kevin Spacey version of House of Cards. We enjoyed it but, I did get a little weary of the swarminess. <s>

Funny, he was my uncle's neighbor up in Blackhawk back in the day.

Jeff, Who Still Lives At Home - loved how everything kept flowing into place with such a great ending.

A Buddy Story - a mellow movie with a great message.

Action Jackson was pretty damn bad ass, dude, but he was no match for The Snake Eater.

I heard of that movie but never seen it. I guess, now I have to! He looks like Dirty Harry, Lone Wolf McQuade and Rambo all rolled into one!

Snake Eater, huh? I guess that is why they never made a sequel to Sly's 1986 movie Cobra!

I just watched a great film based on a true story in England (The Notting Hill Murders) from 1943-1953,
titled "10 Rillington Place." You can only get this on a dvd, I didn't watch this since the 80's so I bought it
(can't stream it & I couldn't find in it any library or video store).
The acting by John Hurt (he played in Alien and The Elephant Man) and Richard Attenborough (another
noted British actor who was John Hammond in Jurassic Park) was so impressive - they both did
an amazing job performing those characters.

"Jeff, Who Lives At Home"--thanks to this thread. And on to "Osombie"-- also suggested here.

It's too hot to do anything else...

Consider yourself lucky you didn't watch it. I watched it and I LOVED IT! My kind of show completely and I loved Eddie Izzard in it, but I was so unbelievably frustrated by the fact that it was cancelled. Even though I knew that when I started watching... I was still really upset and kinda wish I had never started in the first place.

Recently watched for me on Netflix that I just kind of stumbled upon:

Entre Nos -- I even put up with subtitles (I have zero patience for watching subtitles, normally) and this was a sweet story based on a true story. I started playing it just to "check it out" and before I realized it I had watched half of the movie! This woman and her children come to the US (with her husband) from Colombia, and then her husband bails on her and leaves her with two kids, no money, and overdue rent in a foreign country.

Regardless of the subject matter (immigration) the way this little family pulls together to survive and the way the mother faces her situation so bravely for her kids was really inspiring to me. The woman who plays the mom is actually part of the "true story" it is based upon.
