If you have a woman behind bars genre, and then there are a series of films about women behind bars in a specific setting (prisoners of the Third Reich), it is a sub genre.
Sexploitation is a larger genre which would embrace women behind bars and all of its sub genres. Sexploitation does not require a prison movie, just any setting with sexploitation....teens on a ski weekend or truck stop mamas, those are all sexploitation as well.
The structure would be:
Sexploitation..genre
Women behind bars sexploitation...sub genre
Women behind Nazi bars sexploitation....sub genre of the sub genre.
Yep, that is more accurate than what you initially wrote. Not that it is a subject worthy of great debates. Soft core porn had much more significance sociologically.
I've had a copy of "Reform School Girls" on my shelf for several years because a friend recommended it.
Is it worth watching, even (or particularly) as camp?
I've no basis for guessing whether you would find the film worthwhile or not. Even if I knew more about your tastes in film, I don't know anything in particular about "Reform School Girls", not even if I ever saw it.
I watched a load of sexploitation crap during the '70's and it all runs together in my mind. I might remember a scene but could not tell you if it was from "Reform School Girls", "Lockdown Babes", "The Naughty Sophomores" or "Detention Hall Harlots."
Why don't you watch it and give us a report?
