Yeah must be hard to believe that not everyone in the world sat around thinking about the irresponsibilty of Spike...you know I DO get what you're saying! I just watched Romeo & Juliet...how irresponsible of Shakespeare to write a play where kids planned to run away and then ended up killing themselves! Encouraging suicide! Damn him!
Yeah but I've never sat and wondered "did they do the right thing? Was he advocating this or that?" His responsibility is to entertain me; not to impact my moral character.
Exactly. He was just putting it out there. No decent director/producer/screenwriter tells his/her audience, "Okay, this is what you're supposed to think." That's why Lee left the ending the way he did.

Maybe, but I don't buy that in this instance. I think Lee was making a statement about saving Sal's life by destroying the restaurant instead.

I agree.

Could be. I guess it just depends on the person whose watching. I never saw it as either/or...to me it was kind of like the culmination of a whole bunch of events. Kind of like that movie with Michael Douglas where he just goes crazy after he has one really bad day. Maybe I'm just not that deep of a person...I typically miss all the symbolism and metaphors and allegories until someone points them out to me.

I've never liked this film and it was filmed literally on my block. They used my school for dressing rooms and equipment storage. The only good thing about it to me was the video to Public Enemy's 'Fight The Power' which was the main theme song.

That is enjoyable sometimes. But not always. I'm not necessarily sure if it works on this one. Sometimes I would just rather watch a good simple story, and not be bothered by symbolism.
