LOL. My 2 brothers came back from the movie all pissed off. They almost walked out in the middle of the movie. Said too much yapping and not enough ass whipping.
Pacific Rim is certainly doing much better than Jack the Giant Slayer with a similar budget. While Pacific Rim features only character actors, Jack the Giant Slayer featured some much better known talent. Pacific Rim will undoubtedly do better than White House Down, which features two of the biggest stars in movies.
Of these three movies, which one do you think will generate the most income in secondary markets like books, toys, DVD sales, theme park attractions, and possible cartoons or other video follow up?
Plus the stars of Pacific Rim, probably already have contracts if the studio wants to make a sequel. And you know that even their sequel salaries will still be far below that of Channing Tatum and Jamie Fox got for the first movie.

It's worth a chance once in a while. After all the principal actors in Star Wars were almost unknown at the time that movie was made. Despicable Me #2 is rivaling Man of Steel and it cost about 1/3 as much to make.
I saw this today and did like it, but I do wish it wasn't so darn dark, not in theme, but I mean as in hard to see. Everything takes place at night, in the rain. The action scenes were good, if a little confusing. It also had a good ending.
One thing that improved the movie was a rousing soundtrack, which is a nice change from the "wall of sound" music we get from most action movies today.

White House Down look like garbage. I won't even waste a buck or so on Red Box rental that's for sure. Heck, I wouldn't even waste my electricity watching it for free if it came on tv or netflix stream.

White House Down was horrible. I only went to go see it to get out of the blistering heat. I don't know why Jamie Foxx even signed up for this. He's certainly done much better movies.
Loved it. Have seen it twice on Imax 3d. It's perfect for that format.
