IMO, this is one of the BEST action/sci-fi movies in the last 5 years. The plots and sub-plots were rich, deep and well thought out. The contrasts between Humans/APEs, APEs/APEs, Good Humans/Bad Humans, was amazing. The questions that are posed are thought provoking:

*Did Koba have a point? He's known nothing but hate at the hands of humans. Was he justified in a preemptive attack on the humans?
*Is Ceasar an anomaly? One of the few apes that saw the best *and* worst of humanity. Was this point of view really a weakness?
*Was humanity's time truly over? Was the virus a near extinction event and it was not the time of the Apes?

An amazing movie and I think I could watch it two more times and learn something new.

Only if he's a registered Republican and is able to convince the rest of the Apes that the humans have weapons of mass destruction.

A weakness? No. But in the end he was unable to overcome the circumstances thrust upon him. Heavy is the hairy head that wears the crown.

Humanity's day as the dominant species is over. But extinction? No. Then they can't make a sequel.

Bummer! Not totally horrible but not worth a second watch. Saw it last night and was disappointed as I expected.

(To be disappointed) I didn't have much time to think what to expect. I wasn't a big fan of the first Planet of the apes. My daughter, SIL and gkids asked us 5 minutes before they were leaving to watch it if we'd like to go. Everything is spur of the moment with that kid. I only went to see the gkids reactions and to get out of the house.

Really decent movies are few and far between these days.
