Criteria:
1. It has to have at least two [named] women in it
2. Who talk to each other
3. About something besides a man

The Bechdel Test is, to me, something worth considering when judging movies.

However, I agree with this author below that fiction is not a one-size-fits-all experience, and there are nuances that such a test can't allow for:

The Bechdel Test, and Why Passing It Isn't As Crucial As You May Believe

The thing with the Bechdel test is that it's by no means scientific (Alison Bechdel is a graphic artist who mentioned it in a comic.) It is an interesting and important concept when you look at how women are just plunked into a lot of movies as eye candy or "the girlfriend," or when studio execs are surprised that a movie like The Help or Bridesmaids is popular (and not just with women.) Though it doesn't mean that a movie like There Will Be Blood is a bad film because there are no chicks in it.

Yes, I know the origin of the Bechdel test, and obviously it is more thought-provoking than scientifically logical.

I loved There Will Be Blood. I loved Band of Brothers. And so on.

The Bechdel test probably works better when considering the movie industry (and our society) as a whole.

Having said that, these charts offer interesting information (directors, writers, genres, specific years, etc.)
