Are there any movies that the whole world seems to love, that you hate? Do you feel like an alien from another planet when you try to explain why you don't like the movie?

Mine is The Sound of Music.

Even as a kid, I was never interested when it came on TV every year. I had never even seen the whole thing all the way through, but the parts I saw, I found really annoying.
Then as an adult, since my boyfriend said it was such a great childhood classic that he loved, I decided to watch the whole thing to see what I was missing.

Wow, didn't even know there were Nazis in it! That was surprising, but still hated it. It must just be me, because everyone else I meet gushes about it.

I'm sure no one else here hates the Sound of Music (I'm a freak), but what movie do you hate that everyone else you know loves?

I'm not big on the Star Wars movies & I haven't even seen the three newer ones w/Natalie Portman. I also think Wizard of Oz is pretty boring. I can't say I hate those movies just feel very neutral about them. Also Gran Turino, the acting was so poor, even Clint Eastwood, it was almost unbearable to watch.

I can't stand musicals like The Sound of Music, Oklahoma, The King and I, Annie, ect. They make me sick.

Dune, Princess Bride, Star Trek, most romantic comedies.

Good call.

I managed to sit through The Matrix, hating every second of it. I kept thinking, "Everyone raves about this movie. Surely it gets better. It has to get better." But it got worse.

There are lots of movies I dislike. I HATED The Matrix.

You're not a freak. I read the title of your post and my first thought was Sound of Music. Ahhhhh! And I've never really cared for the Star Wars movies.

Top Gun, a authentically crappy movie. Mirthless, unexciting film with one of the least believable romantic subplots ever.

Pretty much any musical, although, one of the musicals I do like is The Sound of Music. LOL -- because it's one of the few musicals where it actually makes sense for the characters to break into song.

My list is pretty long, but I'll keep it to a few: When Harry Met Sally, Silence of the Lambs, most of the Star Wars movies, Forrest Gump, and anything with Sally Field in it except Soapdish.

Twilight. Horrible acting. Dumb plot. There's no point to reading or watching the movie. It's some teen fantasy to have a wolf and a vampire fight over you.

I shall add more when I can think of them.
