Blue Jasmine exceeded my expectations, nicely done! Probably the pinnacle of Blanchett's career, and that's no small accomplishment. Brava.

The Woody Allen movies are still among my best memories in my life.

I see some good choices herein. For those of you who have not see "What's Up Tiger Lilly", cited by one poster, check it out. Allen simply took some knock-off Japanese 'James Bond' type movie, and inserted English dialogue. The part where the armed guy is scanning an empty street for an enemy, and suddenly a head pops out of a manhole yelling "I have no pants on!", only to duck down again when the guy shoots at him, will leave you laughing for days.
My favorite Woody Allen movie is Radio Days. I was not alive during the start of WWII, but Allen was (as a youth) and his depiction of the New York City culture of that time and the general sense of uncertainty and fear about the future appears spot on.
The man has made at least one movie a year since 1965. A couple favorites are Play it again Sam and Zelig.
I've always tried not to let artists' personal lives affect my judgment of their work, I could see how someone would find Allen's behavior so detestable that they couldn't bear to watch his movies.
Woody Allen is not a perfect person, and he doesn't make perfect movies. But he has made more great films than anyone else in the last forty years.
He is responsible for more one-liners than anyone else since Mark Twain.
I don't watch that devaint piece of crap's movies.
Do you apply similar standards to every movie you watch? Do you google the producers, director, and major actors before buying tickets or paying for access? If so, please provide example of major movies that meet your personal purity standards.
I forgot one! I love "Oedipus Wrecks," Allen's contribution to "New York Stories." Julie Kavner is marvelous! Mae Questel Mae Questel - IMDb played his "crazy Jewish mother."
