Lately we have had trouble getting regular Netflix (Non BluRay) disks to run on our BluRay player. Its not a junk brand - Sony. I have no trouble with any other DVDs that are not BluRay.

When I load it, the TV flashes blue and black alternately. I did manage to get one working by loading up a purchased DVD first (comes right up), left the TV input switched to the Bluray, and starting the Netflix disk. We got through the whole movie.

We had another one here that was failing, tried the same thing and it still didn't work. One time we got through the previews and then it died when it got to the movie.

Before someone recommends streaming, I have to say I am very disappointed in what you can get on Netflix streaming compared to what is available by disk. I suppose we could start getting BluRay DVDs from them, but any improvements in getting BluRay are not worth the extra price, especially since they still don't include all the extra features one gets with BluRay DVDs.

Try one of the laser cleaning disks commonly sold as CD player lens cleaners. Have had no general problems other than scratches on Netflix disks.
