Great character and a great movie! I was going to add Norman Bates, but someone beat me to it. How about the Wicked Witch of the West in "The Wizard Of Oz"? I know, not stricktly a horror movie, but as a little kid, she scared me to death. I always hated that scene where she appeared in the crystal ball.

*I thought about including the shark from Jaws, which is one of my favorite movies of all-time. However, I don't really consider him to be a villain. Great White sharks are predators so he was just doing what was natural for him IMO...lol.
You are probably correct but I was agreeing with the "villains" in Night of the Hunter and the "Lecter"
characters. I'll also include Max Cady in both film versions of Cape Fear.
Forgot about Max, great choice. Played very well by both Robert Mitchum and Robert DeNiro.
Maybe it's been too long since I've seen it. I saw Hellraiser when I was about 16 and loved horror movies. Even then I thought it was boring and more than a little stupid. Pincushion Head (or whatever his name was) wasn't the least bit scary.
A lot of my friends loved the movie. But these were the same friends who thought Bon Jovi and Winger were good music.

2. The little girl, Rhoda, in "The Bad Seed."
3. The Walking Man in "The Stand."
4. The killer in "Terror Train."
5. The alien (James Arness) in the original "The Thing." (1951) The full title is "The Thing From Outer Space."
