You've probably never heard of that guy, he is Portuguese, 106 years old, and after some health issues he has just announced he will make a new movie. He is the oldest director still alive and working, he has been in the business for almost 90 years now He started filming in 1927, i.e. still during the era of silent movies.
I was just watching his first documentary on the city of Porto, nothing special, but quite old, from 1931. It is on Youtube:
It is so strange to see those buildings from 80+ years ago, many of them are still standing, I have seen them myself and walked over that bridge on a visit recently
When you stop the video at 10:20, you can compare the city shot with today, house by house
Me neither, except for the short documentary from 1931 I don't think I have seen any of his movies (at least not knowingly). (The video of that documentary linked in the op is no longer available, at least not in one piece )
