Agreed--it wasn't that great when compared to the original. Nothing beats that campiness!

What's next? Remake of The Beastmaster? That's the 3rd best campy movie ever!

A new Flash Gordon movie would be wise to ditch
any references to the Sam Jones version and use
the original comics by Alex Raymond as its' source.

The Sam Jones version was horrendous in the way
it wasted an opportunity to show the full glory of
the source material and decided to use the Disco Era as
an inspiration for costumes and lighting.

Flash Gordon can be done right these days because
its fantasy elements cry out for the type of effects
CGI can provide.

Flash Gordon, the comic book hero, was originally
portrayed as intelligent, resourceful, and physically
fit. He wasn't the bewildered quarterback
Sam Jones portrayed in the 1980 movie.
