No. Coppola tried to turn it into a tortured romance. The only mistake he didn't make was casting Fabio as Van Helsing.

Coppola's Dracula bears little resemblance to the book.

Curious if some think that's THE Dracula film. For me as the blood gushes that one back in the 30's with Bela Lugosi goes for the jugular!...;-).....the atmosphere is great.... I don't think it has been topped.

I'm not a fan of CGI for CGI's sake which is one difference I see here. Looks good to me but also looks like maybe too much CGI.
I have loved vampire stories since I was little and my sister used to scare me with vampire stories - I will be keeping an eye for this.
Yea CGI has been a curse bestowed upon movie making.

The more I consider this movie title, the more it bugs me. After all, it is a movie. Not a book. Shouldn't it be called DRACULA UNSEEN ?

Although I suspect the more accurate title for audiences is going to be DRACULA UNWATCHED.

Maybe I'll read the book again. But you know, everyone and their brother sticks up for Game of Thrones not following the books, True Blood not following the books - IDK normally I like a tv series or move to follow the gd book myself but most people don't care.

Sometimes not following the book is a good thing, because the book is not that great. JAWS, THE GODFATHER, and FORREST GUMP come to mind.

But with DRACULA, you have a truly great book that has been put to film again and again and again and again and again, and not a single movie or TV version has ever done the book.
