Didn't even know it was out this weekend, saw this today. I liked last years "Purge" so checked this one out.
I thought it to be an excellent movie overall. Lots of tension and suspenseful scenes, they did a great job of expanding the premise for a more intense sequel.
I thought the racial overtones of the movie were so obvious and a bit annoying though.
Hmm, I was mildly intrigued until I read that. If there's one thing to keep me away, it is any racial preaching.
Yea I was almost rolling my eyes towards the ending. I wouldn't exactly call it in your face preaching, but it sure wasn't subtle IMO.
Spoiler
I'm not white but found it interesting that the major 'bad guys' that were in positions of power, such as the leaders of America and those that are in charge of the 'purge,' were white people. And in the 'auction' towards the end, every single rich person bidding to kill were white. Not even a token minority person. And the revolutionary that was preaching online about the evils of the purge, a black guy. The theme of the movie seemed to be, the purge was a way for these white people in power to get rid of the poor minority folks.

Not sure where there was racial preaching. There were bad people of all races. There was Mexican neighbor in the beginning, and the guys the sold them into the auction were black. Not sure why people are saying it was just white people.
Not to mention the heroic badass of the movie was white.

There was a Black lady in the rich booth.
