Well it is kind of a depressing state...but if you really like it then don't mind what others say. That's the way I would be if I liked where I lived.

True. NBC also wanted to choose a medium-sized city that would be a realistic choice for a branch office of a NYC-based paper company. The last two contenders were Scranton and Stamford, CT, and Scranton edged out because it had a quirkier appeal. Stamford was then a secondary branch office that was absorbed by the Scranton branch in an episode. There is also a branch in Utica, NY where Steve Carell's ex-girlfriend works. I believe there's another branch office too, but I can't remember where it was.

I'm not sure if you understand the purpose of this thread. I definitely don't want to see any city destroyed in real life. And with the possible exception of that poster who wants to destroy all of So Cal, I don't think anyone else here does either. It is about seeing these cities destroyed in movies. If you notice throughout the thread, most people are choosing their favorite cities as the ones they would like to have destroyed in a movie. I love San Francisco. On the poll of 3 best cities to vist as a foreigner, it was on my list. I just think SF is very iconic and would lend itself to being destroyed in the movies.

HAHAHA YESSS!!!! Reputation point EARNED.
LA gets destroyed EVERY season of 24, so no soCal.
NYC gets obliterated in EVERY apocolypse movie.
Chicago never gets destroyed. But it would make me sad to see it destroyed. So not Chicago
I would like to see some midwestern city destroyed, because everyone thinks midwestern cities are immune to catastrophic events. Detroit, Cleveland, KC, or St. Louis would be great to see....esp with Godzilla and a japanese flag stomping on everyone

You know, I think they could make a great movie with Scranton as the hero. The first half of the movie, we'd have all the fun of watching Godzilla demolishing NYC.
Then he stomps off westward... right toward Scranton.
Quickly, the scrappy Scranton leaders try to decide which beloved city structures are at risk... and how to defend each one. This allows Hollywood to give us a nice tour of all the best sights in town.
Finally Godzilla arrives!
He's just about to stomp through a particularly pretty historic neighborhood when just in the nick of time he's destroyed. It's all because of a clever plan involving the strange smelling sewers in Minooka. (They don't really smell that bad, just... different. So there could be something that could kill Godzilla in there!) In appreciation of their brilliant plan, president Obama declares a national holiday that becomes knowns Stop Rantin' About Scranton Day.
Everyone loves a movie where the little guy saves the world. It'll make a few million bucks.

It's alright, after that poster wanting to destroy So Cal, I thought there might be some misunderstanding.

I gotta say, your love of Scranton is hilarious. Not in a bad way- I gave you some rep. It's true, everyone loves an underdog.
