So-cal is fueling a money-frenzy and a world of shallow celebrity BS that we are all better off without. Maybe it'll bring America a little more back into reality (not reality TV, but ACTUAL reality).
When you come down here you'll see how out of control it really is. Escape Southern California, and watch it go up in flames in the rear view mirror! HAHAHHAHA. I can only dream.....

All of my friends in Southern California are nice hardworking people that are raising good kids.

More of a reason to have it destroyed in a movie.
That makes for a lot of family drama and teenage drama to be mixed in with the action.

Agreed for a movie, but that poster appeared to use the thread to denigrate millons of people, most of whom are good, honest people.

A suggestion. If you want to actually destroy any cities, you should start a thread on that. Let's keep this one about destroying cities in the movies. Everyone agreed?
On that note, I think DC was destroyed among many other cities in Independence Day, but I would like to see DC destroyed all by itself (in a movie!). I can imagine the monster picking up the Washington Monument and using it as a bat to demolish the Jefferson Memorial. Then it would crack open the Lincoln Memorial and pick up the statue of Lincoln like a little toy. Of course the White House and Capitol would be great to play with as well. I can picture the movie poster with the monster stampeding down the mall and tourists snapping pictures of it as they are about to be stepped on.

Wasn't Dallas destroyed in a made-for-TV movie as well? I think it might have been "Asteriod."

You know what I'd like to see...
is after a major city or half the country is destroyed, I'd like the story to continue a little to see:
1.) how people react and how society tries to put the pieces back together,
2.) how people panic and society crumbles in on itself, or
3.) if the government just abandons the cities and starts again elsewhere.
That would be nearly as interesting as the disaster itself. I can't imagine society going along as if nothing happened right after a major alien attack or a massive nuclear attack, etc. But I know, that would probably be a little anti-climatic.

Jerusalem. There are a lot of ways a movie's plot line could go from there!

I know exactly what you mean. I love that part from I am Legend where Will Smith is going all over the desolate city. I would love to see something like the tv show Lost, of people trying to make it in the empty shell of NYC. Without the monsters and all. Just about 25 people or so trying to create a new society with an empty New York as a background. That would be cool, exploring all those empty buildings and subway tunnels. And doing all kinds of things you could never do in NYC now, like Will Smith hitting golf balls off of the Intrepid. Like playing a game of touch football on Times Square, or singing karaoke in Carnegie Hall. How about farming and raising cattle and other animals in Central Park. The possibilities would be infinite.
