Haven't seen too many movies this year but my top 4 are (best to least best)
1. The Lego Movie
2. Boyhood
3. Chef
4. Captain American: The Winter Solider
Dishonorable mention (Because I thought/think it is pretty overrated [but not a bad movie per say]):
1. Guardians of the Galaxy
Guardians was good but it is a bit overrated similar to Frozen to film fans. I love Frozen much more than Guardians as time goes on but Guardians struck me as a pretty good to great film but most movies today are at least good and there are a lot of great films. Plus to me because Captain America was a game changer for both Marvel and comic book/superhero movies period as well as the twists and turns in it, it was a movie that when I've seen it it does not make me think (this movie is sloooow) like Guardians did at a point or two.
I've heard Snowpiercer was good from many people but I Just couldn't get through it. It was soooo strange and not very good in my opinion. Too many unexplained things, bad action scenes, plain plot, weird characters. Just my opinion.
Films with most Golden Globe nominations - an early indication before the BAFTA's and OSCARS
Birdman 7
Boyhood 5
The Imitation Game 5
Gone Girl 4
The Grand Budapest Hotel 4
Selma 4
The Theory of Everything 4
Other possible candidates for possible awards include Mr. Turner, Foxcatcher, Whiplash, Unbroken, Interstellar, Into The Woods, American Sniper and the critically acclaimed A Most Violent Year.

That makes two of us. I've tried three times and just can't watch it.
My favorites were Captain America and Guardians of the Galaxy. I keep hearing good things about Birdman but haven't seen it. I'll probably catch it on Redbox.
I'm really surprised nobody has mentioned The Drop.
James Gandolfini's last film... and it was spectacular. Tom Hardy was awesome.
I'd rank it right up there with Gone Girl and Nightcrawler for my top 3 of 2014.
