The Dark Knight - Harvey Dent was the white knight as Gotham City's District Attorney but he becomes the villain with half of his face blown off.
The Sixth Sense - You really feel for Bruce Willis' character with the twist in it.
Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith - Padmae lives only long enough to give birth to her children, Lek and Leia. She dies after not having the will to live.
Titanic - Whether it is Jack or Rose, it is a rather sad ending.
The Wrestler - Granted, the entire movie was indeed heart wrenching but the ending was somewhat a triumph but somewhat heart wrenching.

I think I'm having problems with your choice of words. I'm uncertain about equating "tragic" with "soul-crushing," and I'm even more uncertain about equating missed sexual/financial opportunities as tragic.

I often find that the really great movies are tragic - but then I'm thinking of movies on a par with Shakespeare, not Dumb/Dumber.

I'm never used the term soul-crushing, but it makes me think of something like Fires On the Plain.

The title is pretty much self explanatory.
