We just got back from seeing it we really enjoyed it. I'm not a fan of DiCaprio's I liked him in the Departed though very good movie will have to look into the story that inspired it. Tom Hardy was EXELLENT!

It was surprisingly packed for the first viewing at my theater. I loved it but it was nearly sickening with how gory it was. Iñárritu does it again after Birdman last year even though they are mostly different. Better than The Force Awakens but not quite better than The Hateful Eight or even The Martian.

saw this today, what a movie!!! Intense, edge of your seat....how in the world did they film those scenes?
Leonardo DiCaprio was outstanding...I've seen many movies but this was indeed the best.

this movie is graphic in some parts, not for the faint of heart....

honestly, intense movie.

I loved the visuals here but I feel Martian was a much better total package film. Not by a lot but by enough

I thought I was going to put a gun to my head if the The Martian didn't
end soon ...soooo slow!
I actually said, FINALLY!
( Men liked it way more!)

Even the BOOK! Endless slowness...I was told.

Sickening? Come on man, this movie isn't for the faint of heart so why did you even see it?

Anyway I thought it was great...maybe that's predictable for me to say since I've been looking forward to it for ages but it really delivered. I don't think the second act dragged at all. I do agree with some people commenting on the unrealistic parts and....
Spoiler
I would have liked to see Leo struggle even more. He was walking pretty quickly after the injury and in the book it took him a very long time. I wanted to see more of that.

People bashing Leo's acting probably don't get that acting isn't always shouting and showmanship but about subtlety and physicality as well. And obviously he isn't going to talk a lot when he's mostly alone. He and Tom were awesome.

I'll probably post more when I get more of my thoughts together.

It wasn't but some scenes were damn near torture porn horror levels. I am not faint at heart but I was looking away from the screen with one eye closed when

Glass took the inners out of his deadhorse from the cliff jump.
A few part of the final fight were cringe worthy. That said, I did love the film, it easily is one of my favorite films of the year. The cinematography was awesome. Iñárritu wrote and directed a disturbing masterpiece (in a different way than he did with Birdman) and Leo was amazing even with the maybe 5-10 minutes of dialogue he actually had.

Just saw this afternoon and thought it was excellent. I personally found it totally riveting. Visually stunning and great performances from both DiCaprio and Hardy. Iñárritu just keeps churning out great films. Although I really liked this, still not my favorite.

The Revenant - ★★★★.5
Amores Perros - ★★★★★
