It depends upon the auditorium, the movie, and the crowd. If it is something with lots of visuals, like Lawrence of Arabia or a space opera, I'll walk until the screen covers a 30 to 40 degree angle of view. In some auditoriums that can be towards the front, in others, further back. If the theatre is a front loader, I'll sit closer to the front. If it a back loader and the film is run-of-the-mill, I'm in the last three rows near the aisle, as I will always get out mid-movie for a while to stretch or pee or buy something. It has been a while though.
We only sit in the very back. We both also do not like others behind us. We don't want to be disturbed in any way during the movie and just do not trust people in general behind us.
