Naturally most actors tend to play certain types of roles. Whether it was Cary Grant or Barbra Streisand or Robert DeNiro, most actors stay within the range their fans want. There are exceptions. But most of us go to movies by a certain actor we like. That's the way it generally works. In fact, often it's when an actor accepts a role that is outside of his normal character range that he or she has a film that doesn't make money.
