What would you have done at the end?

That's a good question.
The way I look at it is this:
The police chief and cop were wrong to do what they did.
Patrick was right.
But what Patrick did would be a lot better if he took a hand in the little girl's situation, made himself a part of her life.

When the movie ended i could only hope that Patrick did make himself a part of Amandas life. Her Mom was a real POS and wasn't going to change .That was obvious.

He did the right thing and it turned out wrong.

As far as what would I have done.. I thought about that and I think I would have let her dissappear with that other family. Mom was terrible to her and if the Uncle felt that strongly about not having her with her own Mom.. well that says a lot.

But I say this knowing that the Mom didn't turn herself around...

I think morally Patrick did the right thing; and I can say the same, that I can only hope that he stayed in her life. That is the only thing you can do. The child is right to stay with the mother unfortunately. All you can do do is be there. So sad..........
