Interesting. Would you recommend the book? Library's Overdrive has the Kindle. Wonder why it says Trainspotting (Mark Renton series Book 2)?

^ eta: book 1 is Skagboys.

Hmm, I'll have to check on the books I have. I thought Trainspotting and Porno were about the same people, and Porno was sort of a sequel.

I started with The Acid House, which is short stories. That got me used to reading the dialect phonetically. I tend to absorb what I read visually, but with those books, I definitely had to 'hear' the words in my head to understand. There was another book of short stories I had called Ecstasy.

The novels I have by Welsh are all one-word titles, like Trainspotting and Porno. I remember Glue and Filth. I have them all mixed up in my memory now, and can't recall which were better than others. Skagboys doesn't sound familiar; was that about the same characters?

Update: I just looked it up. Skagboys is a prequel to Trainspotting. I never read it! I guess I'll read them in order:

1. Skagboys, published 2012
2. Trainspotting, published 1993
3. Porno, published 2002

Excited to hear this! I loved the first one, and it also had one of the best soundtracks ever, maybe THE best. I still listen to it frequently.

I am STOKED about this upcoming movie! I loved the first Trainspotting and I really like Danny Boyles. In fact, in honor of the upcoming movie, I rewatched Trainspotting the other night and I've been catching up on Danny Boyles and Ewan McGregor movies that I either haven't seen in a long time or have never seen. For instance, "Trance." Excellent movie.

I don't know how I didn't realize that Slumdog Millionaires is a Danny Boyles movie.

Also, from WAY back, for all you Ewan and Danny Boyles fans - if you haven't seen "Shallow Grave" (the one with EM in it) then you are in for a TREAT - if you liked Trainspotting.
