Fun fact: The first movie was also bashed into pieces at the time of it's release as well.el?
Really? By who?
I remember standing in line to watch that movie.
I remember the whole audience was psyched.
Everyone loved that movie from day one.
It's one of those movies everyone watches when it's on the tube.
I'll watch the sequel even though everyone I know hated it. But my biggest complaint is why Hollywood has to keep dredging up and ruining old stuff bc they can't seem to put together an idea of their own.
It was a shoot em up movie without being suspenseful so it left me underwhelmed. I had no problem with the plot writing acting etc. a lot of people like action movies with lots of explosions. I don't. Stormship Troopers is more my cup of tea.
This movie hasn't even made half its production budget back in the US. They'll get some monies from the foreign markets, but the huge drops point to this thing not breaking even during its theatrical run.

Pretty sure I'll be proven wrong but I'll guess maybe North by Northwest. It was many years ago but that movie blew me away with the quality. Of everything.
Sequels used to be rare. It seems like most of the money is spent on re-cycling old stuff now.

How about T2 and Aliens....I think there are a few more as well. After a successful hit, they can avail themselves to a much larger budget. Wasn't the Back to the Future sequels well thought of?
While I loved the casting choices for the original Star Trek......TNG Star Trek (The Next Generation) is far superior in many ways.
Spiderman has seen some great reboots. Though the definition of a sequel gets fuzzy...

Those are sequels, not remakes, and neither are as good as the original Alien and The Terminator.

The movies with Andrew Garfield dropped the ball.
