Now almost 50 reviews on RT and a 93% rating. This one might be one of the more acclaimed entries. Hopefully it doesn't disappoint the old school fans like the last one did.
I'm an original TOS fan--I watched the shows first-run on television in the 60s, and I was the only Star Trek fan I knew. None of the other kids I knew even watched it.
But while I'd agree that the role of Khan was unnecessarily "whitewashed" (given that they did so well with the other old characters, and that Khan's ethnicity was a TOS point just as Sulu's, Chekhov's, and Uhura's), there were still elements in Beyond that I liked. And Cumberbach did do a good job for his part.
At the same time, I totally recognize that this is not the thoughtful Trek that it has been before, this is Trek for the "Fast and Furious" audience.
I'm a big Patrick Stewart fan. Just bought Nemesis yesterday though I seen it at the theater. Wasn't the best of the best....but still Star Trek and Stewart.

Not the third movie he did. Third TNG(?), but not third movie.
I personally think the new Star Wars sucks... the STar Treks are entertaining, I don't expect more out of them. It's Kirk...whoop someone, get a green chick, and some funny s.it out of Scottie.
The critics are raving, saying this one is a huge nod to the original tv series. As a new age trek lover who just can't watch acting from the 70s and 80s and hasn't seen any of that stuff I wonder what that means. Lol. I'm very excited though.
