The newest installment of Star Trek hits the theaters on July 22nd. So far 25 critics have weighed in and given it an aggregate score of 88% at Rotten Tomatoes. Looks like it will please the Star Trek and science fiction crowd.

They would have to really dumb down the Star Trek universe to tap into the Star Wars universe.

This is the first Star Trek movie in 20 years I won't see in the theater. The last movie was a mess, and this one looks messier. I'll catch it on DVD some day.

This one has to be better than the last one. Without Abrams around to turn into an unofficial Star Wars film, it has to be somewhat better!

Motorcycle stunts suggest otherwise. I half expect at some point in the movie Scottie will drive a Camaro on two wheels.

This series is tapping into the "Fast and Furious" audience, so it's not going to fail financially because that audience is out there...it's just not going to be TOS.

It also has roundhouse kicks.

But Rogue One has Zatôichii, and nobody seems to mind. That Star Wars bias again...

A lot of people delivered a negative sentence after review of the airborne motorcycle. Perhaps the movie will deliver more than 1000 airborne motorcycle sequences.

Can we visualize Captain Picard escaping from the Romulans on a dirt bike? Just doesn't seem natural.

I really like the new Star Treks. I would have seen this one even if rotten tomatoes was mean to it.

I LOVED the Star Trek Into Darkness, but everyone from the Wrath of Khan generation seemed to hate it with a passion. I wasn't even born before Wrath of Khan so I didn't have that movie affecting my perception of the current films.

Some interesting comments about "Beyond" mixed in with this Trekkie's appreciation for the '09 movie.
