A HAL is not a necessity to send a manned mission to another planet, nor to build a space station, nor to build a moon base. If the US had continued to push ahead through the rest of the century with the same fervor of the 60s, there would be a base on the moon and daily flights to a space station by now.

New q:

At the end we see K lying in the snow. Then why do we see a shot of Anna's hand in the snow??

Another question (I don't know if anybody is still reading this thread):

K had an implanted memory of the wooden horse. But then he found the actual horse in reality. This suggested he wasn't a replicant. However, the whole film says he's a replicant. What did the horse scene mean then?

It was the memory of Dr. Ana Stelline, which she recognized when she read it from K's mind. That memory was planted in K (and maybe in a number of replicants) as a false trail for anyone searching for her.

Finally watched this one. Man it was bad. Really needed about an hour cut out. Whole lotta superfluous this and that. Another movie that needed to be left alone as it stood. Nostalgia as film-making is fairly lame.

I agree......not a huge fan of the original. Not saying it was bad IMO, just never loved it. I felt 2049 was a movie that didnt need to be made. I will say the style and effects were all pretty cool though.
