Bleh.

I know that Ridley Scott has been trying to make Deckard a replicant for years --- for no apparent reason other than Scott likes the gimmick.

But the director of the sequel isn't so onboard with that.

Why is Hollywood so insistent on making sequels to movies that stand alone beautifully? The original Blade Runner hardly needs a sequel! Nothing we're likely to see in this sequel will equal (much less improve on) the original film.

The music will be one of the most important things to this movie being a good sequel. I will give them the benefit of the doubt and am hoping this will be good.

Lower your expectations down to zero. Unless they invite Vangelis back to do it, I'm not expecting the same magic to be, er, replicated.

Because they have been so brainwashed/conditioned this is all they can do now..... TAKE ORIGINAL THINGS THAT ARE GOOD AND MAKE THEM CRAP...... (And they think its GOOD because of the fake reality they have been forced to live)

And the funny thing about that is that everyone thought Bladerunner was crap.

Except me. I was the only one who thought it was brilliant on first viewing. The only one. Just me. Nobody else.

Eventually, everyone came around to my way of thinking.

Its a business and they are making business decisions when they make new movies, particularly the mega budget tent pole movies. When you commit millions of dollars to a new movie how can you increase your chance to get a decent ROI? Tie it to an already successful film is one answer.

Maybe all those people and companies that invest tens of millions of dollars in a film actually want to make a profit, and understand the nature of branding.

I agree that Blade Runner hardly needs a sequel. So I won't see the sequel. Thus, for me it's exactly the same as if this sequel was never made. Thus, I don't see the problem.
