That is definitely one of my favorite movies and definitely one of the best 80s dramas that is also quite underrated.
I think as a single person living alone, the isolation in the movies is what I subconsciously relate to.

Something very real and gritty about that movie and you can definitely tell the decade of the storyline.

Viking and Tweety are definitely very interesting characters but the one that stole the scene was Horowitz (the amazing exploding cassette player!

Horowitz, good character, they demonstrated many facets of mental issues, which is very real!

Freaking Hate it when this happens. Why did they have to choose that title, and virtually bury the 1983 classic with this Hollywood Garbage. What a shame.

The story line in the 83 movie was a very good lesson for many young men to see today. Youth offender lock up is just what these kids need to see today. It sure gave me a wake up call to reality. Sean Penn, Esai Morales, and the rest of the crew gave an impressive movie .

While sitting with a friend who has been to juvenile detention centers during the late 70's, he said it was very close to reality . The positive or negative ways it shaped those who saw it was tremendous. This movie was dramatic in the way 70's urban movies were. you can just feel the grittiness of the scenes. It is hard to believe there has not been a proper remake of this flick.
I agree. A worthy classic!!!! Great great movie. For another lesser known goodie, check out true romance 1993 with christian slater.
