I will probably see it but I really don't have high hopes. John Carpenter being involved and Jamie Lee Curtis being involved aren't really a guarantee of a good movie. Both of the first two movies were really, really good. After that, I think the series really went downhill.
The one thing that they can't replace is the best talent in the entire series - Donald Pleasence. For me, he was what elevated that series above the other slasher franchises, as no one else had an actor of his talent. Some think Jamie Lee Curtis was the key to the original and the best talent in it. I personally think they are wrong and thing Pleasence provided the best performance in the original. He's gone and can't really be replaced. Can they find a way to make this almost as good as the original without a talent like him around? It would be nice but I have trouble imagining it.

Me too, but for different reasons. Yes, Donald Pleasance was an acting titan. No doubt.
But two things make me nervous about this movie:
Danny McBride's involvement. I have nothing against the guy. I have enjoyed some of his previous work. But nothing in his body of work so far leads me to believe he is the right fit for this story. And what few things I have read from him and others involved in this movie, I think they have some pretty serious misunderstandings about what made the original so great.
John Carpenter. Yes, he made some truly classic films in his time. But his last few movies were not very good at all, and a couple of them were downright bad. And based on the interviews I've seen from him over the past ten years or so, I get the impression that as long as he has beer in the fridge and time to play video games, he doesn't really care what's happening with the movies. So his endorsement doesn't exactly have the strength it might have at one time.
Halloween's been done to death, who wants to see another one!?
Do I want another bad HALLOWEEN movie? Nope.
Do I want another great HALLOWEEN movie? Yes!
