I agree. I saw La La Land and thought it was mediocre. My biggest complaint about that movie was the voices of the actors -- not just the main leads, but everyone really. The voices didn't sound bad; they just weren't STRONG enough. Too soft, too breathy. I was much more impressed by the singing in this movie. Great job all around, in my opinion.

I haven't see it yet only clips
But the reason Emma sounds ok is because they autotuned her voice to the 9th degree
And that's fine I guess
It's just a letdown from having real voice actors like in the animated version
Compare Emma to the actor who played Elsa
I also don't like Emma Watson in general so there's that

Idina Menzel (Elsa) is an outstanding singer, but not a particularly great actress. So it worked in her favor that her role was animated.

It's tough to find big name actors who will be a draw who can both sing AND act (and can fit a particular role).

That's true. I think the best thing to do would have been to have a different voice actor for the songs and have Emma lip sync them

Except IMO Emma has a very distinct accent and speech pattern, and even in singing, it would be easy to tell it isn't her voice.

What would have been cool is a French actress who could sing with a French accent. You know, being the movie is in France and all

Emma Watson was lazy casting. They wanted to take advantage of her HP star power but she wasn't really right for the role. But who am to say that after that box office this weekend lol

Well, the original Belle didn't have a French accent. Besides, name an actress with a French accent who can sing and act, and more importantly is a box office draw?

The last HP movie came out nearly 6 years ago. If they just wanted anyone with star power, there are plenty of young women to choose from.

Well, she does seem to be the 'it' girl of the moment, there's another movie coming out with her soon with Tom Hanks.

Most people are familiar with her due to the Harry Potter movies, and that had to count for something.

Does amazing box office:

Her star power is still huge as is the whole HP phenomenon.

Her actual talent, well that's another story
