I didn't mean to disrupt this thread from the discussion of older and traditional movie actors and actress... therefore, I started another thread:

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned Harrison Ford.

Acting kind of went out the window. It is more about the content of the actual work itself. You can insert any actor and it will be fine. Your family members are probably great actors and do not have a drop of Greek or liar in their blood.

Yeah... but to be honest with you, I don't think that the OP literally meant actors who are "consistently good AND [who] consistently choose good movies"... because if so, the actual answer would be NONE. Because ALL actors and actresses have duds in their portfolios.

However, I guess you would have to ask the OP(the original poster) what he or she meant.

Oh, I know. I just feel like Harrison Ford has had more bombs then hits over the last few years. That was just the first movie of his that came to mind.

Cary Grant is definitely on MY list, as is Bette Davis, but probably anybody under 50 hasn't a clue who he is or can't mention not even one of his movies. Cher, Will Smith, Tom Selleck, Denzel Washington are the only actors I can think of that would draw me to see a movie that I knew little about.

I'll add Ian McKellen to the list. While I'm sure he's had a dud or two (most actors do), the films I've seen him in have been consistently good (and often outstanding).
