Martin Landau, famous for his roles in Space 1999 and Mission Impossible
Oh, wow. He lived a long life. Also, even though I never could get into Space 1999, I was a big fan of Mission Impossible and enjoyed him on that show. May he rest in peace.

I was thinking that perhaps you should have made two separate threads because I don't know that much about George Romero, and I didn't want it to look like I was ignoring him. However, I am a big fan of Michael Jackson's Thriller, and I think that video was kind of a tribute to Night of the Living Dead?
Also, I was just thinking that Martin Landau was more of a TV star than a movie star... and his part of the thread would have been more suitable for the TV forum or the Celebrities forum.

George Romero was a Pittsburgh filmmaker. He forgot to copywrite his movie "Night of the Living Dead". The result was that it was distributed by many people who got rich off of the movie. Sometimes they even changed the name and released it.

The original movie cost $110k to make, and earned more than $30M worldwide. He was screwed.
I was a Landau fan, but losing Romero feels like losing a close friend. Back when they would play Night of the Living Dead on the USA network every couple of months, I would stay up all night watching it EVERY TIME. Of course I came to love Dawn and Day, and even though he did not approve, I know that when I watch the Walking Dead, I am watching something that owes its (un)life to George Romero.
As for Landau. Loved space 1999, but I will always remember Without Warning, and especially, Ed Wood, one of my favorite films.
