No. I speak for myself, not "women."

Obviously a lot of people found the movie romantic. I found it unrealistic.

I feel this way for two reasons. First, I don't have a romantic bone in my body. Second, James Cameron hasn't made a decent film since Aliens.
LOL!!! Very eloquent!!!

I actually think Cameron did a great job portraying how horrifying it was, and the shots of people decided to go down with the ship were poignant.

The love story, on the other hand, lacked any kind of subtlety for me. It was too Romeo and Juliet, poor-boy-and-rich-girl archetype. Like a Disney movie without the charm. And I'm actually someone who loves Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio in other movies. I think maybe I'm too cynical to watch movies that I think convey a sort of idealist love rather than a realistic one.
Certainly not realistic. The small part I saw, when they were in 3rd class low level areas swimming through water that should've been ICE COLD and putting them into shock almost immediately, I had to turn it off. There wouldn't have been enough steam or coal on the the whole ship to warm up that water. And the ice cold water hitting the hot light bulbs would've broken those bulbs immediately. It was too unrealistic. All for the purpose of She LOVES HIM!!! He LOVES HER!!! Sugar and spice and everything nice!! White horses trotting on the beach on a path of rose petals!!! Perfume and sugar fills the air!! I had to change the channel.

" It's pretty sick how women are excited by the idea of a man choosing to die for her. And then to say that her giving up a luxurious life for love was somehow courageous ".

Women dont usually give up the money for love. They can fake love. Cant fake money.

I think it's messed up that all you people can't think far enough ahead to see that maybe she learned to be independent in her break from the world she used to belong to and made her own way in the world and no one was financing her horseback riding or deep sea fishing. Besides herself.
I never thought someone else was paying for it. I thought it was her getting out into the world and really living and experiencing things.

I'm a woman and never found it romantic. I always found it unrealistic that a young, rather entitled woman would have sex with a guy that she has known for a few days in a car back in 1912. The saddest part of that movie, in my opinion, wasn't Jack dying it was the old couple who were laying in bed holding each other while the water crept higher and higher.

I don't care for "chick flicks", they are so unrealistic. I know, I know, movies aren't documentaries but I think the "love conquers all" movies are B.S. and give young people, especially women a warped view of romance.

Seriously, OP?

I dunno why some women like that movie so much. I think I may have seen it twice. It's well made, runs really long, and that's my general appraisal.

I like the story of the Titanic itself. It's really sad. I went to a Titanic traveling exhibit and they gave us all cards at the beginning, to open at the end. We went through, saw a lot of interesting artifacts, read stories about the night, got to put our hands in a tank with an "iceberg" with water set to the temperature that the survivors would have felt once they hit the water, and at the end, we were at a huge wall of names where we had to open our card, find our names and learn about the passenger we were assigned.

It was really touching.

The movie is Hollywood dramatic romance stuff.

Not really my thing.

Now THAT sounds awesome!

Well I am a guy and of all of them I think the 1997 one is the BEST one!!

I love how they do it....... The girl stands up for Jack and stays with him........ By 1997 things were getting bad and that movie is quite good!

Well, it's a doomed love story, it has youthful energy and impetuousness, and it's a gorgeous production.

But why didn't you just ask your wife?
