Saw Mrs. Pettigrew Lives For A Day last night. Overall, it was good. Cute, light, fun to watch. The costumes were very good. The acting was good. I would recommend it. If I had to grade it, I'd give it a B or a B+.

I went last night and only stayed for 30 minutes.
For some reason I lost patience with it and thought
it was something I could just see on video. Maybe I
judged to quickly.

It is about a middle aged woman (Ms. Pettigrew) in London, just before WWII. She loses her job as a nanny and her employment agency won't give her any more work, because this is the third time she has been fired by a family. As she gets fired, she hears people in the office mention that Ms. So-and-So (Amy Adams' character) needs a nanny ASAP. Homeless, penniless, and desperate, she goes to Amy Adams' home and says she is the new nanny. Turns out, Amy Adams has no kids...she called the employment agency for a social secretary. Amy Adams plays a young, pretty coquette who is literally sleeping her way to success, fame, and fortune with several men. Ms. Pettigrew, the daughter of a clergyman, who has lived a simple, humble life, finds this sort of thing shocking, yet somehow can't walk away from helping Amy Adams. Comedy ensues as Amy Adams' character gets into all sorts of mischief, and has any number of love problems, and Ms. Pettigrew tries to help her...and in the end, has a day like no other she's ever had.
