Thank you for naming one. No one else apparently could. Admittedly, I am not familiar with the movie.

I know the movie bombed, but Sophie in 2016's The BFG (and the original book and past adaptations) is the main character, although not the titular one.

I really don't see the fuss about Spielberg not directing a lot of female leads.

When you become a director you go ahead and cast whomever you want to.

He's not like Woody Allen or Sidney Pollack. If any directors should get scorn those two should.

Jaws
Everybody knows the shark was female.

And don't forget that opening scene. The young bare breasted character eaten by the shark was female too.
It was a very significant, memorable and influential scene for my 10 year old self.

Not trying to be insulting but enough is enough. Everyone acting like drama queens nowadays. Look at the constant whinny in our society. Everything is racist or sexist or homophobic blah blah blah. If everyone is so oppresses why the **** do people from all around the world want to come here. Wonder Woman was great and made money. If other movies with female leads do the same, then Hollywood would make them. Just look at those crappy fast and furious movies. It's all about the $$$$

She was the government suit sent to select the kids to be sacrificed in The Hunger Games series. However since she went through her 30s without being the lead she has probably aged out getting such roles in the movies. She is without an established leading star name like Angelina or Charlize, although TV is full of the early 40's to 50 year old female leads

Elizabeth Banks is also a producer and director of at least one of the Pitch Perfect movies, so at least she tries to put her money where her mouth is to produce stories about women and to provide behind the camera opportunities.

What the hell is a Crystal award? Do those silly little twits need an award for every little thing? How about Biggest Whiner Award? And the award goes to..............Elizabeth Banks!

(Come to think of it, who is Elizabeth Banks?)

Perhaps Stephen should have made the truck driver in his first movie a girl. That would have gone over big. Somehow, a stiletto stepping out of that big Mack doesn't hold the same gut fear as a big, beat up, gnarly boot.

We all know the shark in Jaws was a boy. I mean, really, how many girls are named Bruce? Well, other than that Jenner thing...

A girl could have gone on the Mother ship in Close Encounters.

And so forth and so forth.
