Tend to agree with most of the choices, the more that Hollywood strayed from Mr.Fleming's excellent prose and gravitated to fantasy, the poorer the outcome.

But some of my favorite pics are ones where they strayed away though, aren't they?

I think while Dalton was serious his villain playing with toy soldiers wasn't. The Craig movies didn't suffer that tonal disconnect.

Craig is often serious, but loose (some seriousness was necessary due to circumstances involved in several of his movies); Dalton was serious, but just flat-out uptight as well; if that makes any sense. Dalton just bothered me to no end.

Agreed.
I liked the Connery and Brosnan ones best, but View to a Kill gets a special spot in my heart.

The agree with the disconnect in TLD, but I felt that in LTK, they made the story more serious to fit Dalton's take, and it worked there.

I agree with you there. When it opened The Living daylights was near the top of my Bond list because he was following Roger Moore's more silly episodes. It has not aged well keeps falling further down my list. Daniel Craig also had the advantage of coming in after the franchise had a rest and most movies of his era had a more serious tone then their genre mates had in the 70s and 80s.

When I first saw the LTD I felt the same way, but then saw the disconnect on a later viewing. But I think that Casino Royale and Skyfall, my two good Craig ones for me, have more character driven stories compared to LTK, which is why they are more respected by fans maybe. Although I don't mind LTK being more plot driven, cause I think it's a very well done plot driven entry, if that makes sense.

Craig has the physique but he doesn't portray well the sophistication and intelligence that I feel Bond is supposed to have.
